1150226-TCGA Resfutes China’s “Regular Patrol” Claims Near Kinmen , Feb 26, 2026
February 26, 2026-Mainland China Coast Guard Intrudes into Kinmen Waters and Fabricates Video; Taiwan Coast Guard Firmly Refutes False Claims and Safeguards National Sovereignty
The Mainland China Coast Guard (CCG) claimed that it conducted a “routine law enforcement patrol” in waters near Kinmen on February 25. As this statement does not correspond with the facts, the Taiwan Coast Guard Administration (TCGA) Kinmen-Matsu-Penghu Branch hereby issues the following clarification.
1.At approximately 14:00 on February 25, the 12th (Kinmen) Patrol Area detected two groups of CCG vessels assembling outside waters south of Kinmen. TCGA immediately dispatched patrol boats forward and pre-positioned them along the Restricted Area boundary.
At 15:00, four CCG vessels — 14529, 14604, 14527, and 14603 — entered the Kinmen Restricted Area in two-vessel formations, approaching from the east of Liaoluo and the southwest direction, and proceeded westward in formation.
Four TCGA patrol boats immediately conducted parallel monitoring and pressure operations, firmly preventing the vessels from further advancing into Taiwan’s waters. During the operation, TCGA patrol boats issued stern radio warnings and demanded that the vessels alter course and depart immediately.
Under continuous interception and expulsion operations by TCGA patrol boats, the four CCG vessels ultimately turned away and exited Taiwan’s Restricted Area at 17:03.
2.TCGA further clarified that Mainland China has not only repeatedly used Coast Guard vessels under the pretext of “law enforcement patrols” to conduct routine harassment of Taiwan’s waters, but has also fabricated video footage in an attempt to create the false narrative that TCGA vessels retreated from the scene.
Verification confirmed that none of the TCGA patrol boats involved in the operation carried the hull number PP-10083, indicating that the dialogue presented in the Mainland China video was deliberately fabricated and constitutes a typical cognitive warfare tactic.
TCGA emphasized that Coast Guard personnel remain on duty around the clock, strictly following standard operating procedures. Any attempt by Mainland China to distort facts or undermine Taiwan’s sovereignty will be firmly refuted at the earliest opportunity.
TCGA will continue to closely monitor maritime developments and conduct forward deployment of operational forces, taking proactive measures to safeguard national sovereignty and maritime security.
