China Coast Guard Coordinates with PLA Joint Military Exercises — ROC Taiwan Coast Guard Administration and Ministry of National Defense Maintain Full Monitoring and Response
At approximately 07:00 on April 1, the Eastern Theater Command of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) announced the launch of joint military exercises in air and sea areas surrounding Taiwan. Shortly thereafter, the Mainland China Coast Guard (CCG) declared that its patrol fleets would conduct "law enforcement inspections" in waters near Taiwan. The ROC Taiwan Coast Guard Administration (TCGA) immediately detected the approach of CCG vessels near Dongyin, Matsu, and swiftly dispatched Patrol Boats to intercept vessels 14607 and 14517, which intruded into Taiwan’s Restricted Area. TCGA also activated its Emergency Response Center, coordinating with on-duty naval and patrol assets to respond in close cooperation with the Ministry of National Defense (MND). The public is assured that the situation remains under firm control.
TCGA emphasized that these coercive and intimidatory maneuvers—jointly conducted by the PLA and CCG—constitute a blatant challenge to the international order and a deliberate attempt to unilaterally alter the status quo. Over recent months, Mainland China has engaged in a pattern of aggressive behavior across various regions, including New Zealand, Australia, the South China Sea, and recently near South Korea, Japan, the Philippines, and Taiwan, through both military threats and persistent gray-zone maritime intrusions. These repeated provocations highlight Mainland China’s role as a destabilizing force in the international community, and TCGA strongly condemns such actions.
TCGA stated that these unilateral disruptions by Mainland China gravely threaten peace, stability, and security across the Indo-Pacific. In partnership with the MND and national security agencies, TCGA remains fully prepared to respond with resolve, safeguarding Taiwan’s sovereignty and maritime security. TCGA also warned Beijing that such hostile behavior further tarnishes Mainland China’s international image and urged it to cease all such actions and return to the path of normalcy and international responsibility.
As a responsible member of the global community, Taiwan will continue to work closely with like-minded partners to preserve regional peace, stability, and prosperity.
