1140417-China Coast Guard Harassment in Kinmen Waters, Apr 17, 2025

Four Mainland China Coast Guard Vessels Intrude into Kinmen Waters — The ROC Taiwan Coast Guard Administration Responds with Full Monitoring and Firm Expulsion

At approximately 14:00 on April 17, the 12th Patrol Area Office 12 of the ROC Taiwan Coast Guard Administration (TCGA)'s Kinmen–Matsu–Penghu Branch detected four Mainland China Coast Guard (CCG) vessels approaching the waters near Kinmen. TCGA immediately deployed assets and advanced to the outer boundary of Restricted Area for preemptive response.
At 14:50, CCG vessels 14515, 14603, 14608, and 14609 approached from offshore and entered Taiwan’s sovereign waters near Liaoluo (east and southeast) and southwest of Zhaishan in three separate formations. TCGA's four pre-positioned Patrol Boats executed a rapid one-on-one intercept deployment, conducting close-range monitoring and issuing stern radio warnings in Mandarin and English), demanding immediate withdrawal.
Under persistent surveillance and pressure from TCGA assets, all four CCG vessels exited the Restricted Area by 17:00.
To date, CCG has intruded into Kinmen’s Restricted Area 69 times, underscoring an ongoing pattern of gray zone aggression. The KMP Branch and the Patrol Area Office 12 continue to strengthen surveillance, rapid response, and operational deployments, upholding a firm law enforcement stance to ensure the security of Taiwan’s maritime sovereignty.
