1140423-China Coast Guard Harassment in Kinmen Waters, Apr 23, 2025
Mainland China Coast Guard Fleet Intrudes into Kinmen Waters — The ROC Taiwan Coast Guard Administration Responds with Real-Time Monitoring and Expulsion
At approximately 14:00 on April 23, the Patrol Area Office 12 of the ROC Taiwan Coast Guard Administration (TCGA)'s Kinmen–Matsu–Penghu (KMP) Branch detected Mainland China Coast Guard (CCG) vessels approaching the waters near Kinmen. Patrol assets were promptly deployed and advanced to the outer boundary of the Restricted Area to conduct preemptive response operations.
Between 14:44 and 15:00, four CCG vessels — 14608, 14512, 14603, and 14606 — entered Taiwan’s sovereign waters in two two-ship formations from the south of Dadan Island. TCGA’s four pre-positioned Patrol Boats quickly executed a one-on-one interception, conducting close-range parallel monitoring and delivering stern radio warnings in Mandarin and English, demanding immediate departure.
All CCG vessels exited the Kinmen Restricted Area by 17:00 under constant surveillance and pressure from TCGA patrols.
This incident marks the 70th recorded gray zone intrusion into Kinmen waters by CCG. In response, the KMP Branch and the Patrol Area Office 12 have continued to enhance surveillance, response readiness, and deployment capabilities. TCGA remains committed to a resolute law enforcement stance, broadcasting warnings, conducting real-time monitoring, and publicly releasing enforcement footage to counter false Mainland Chinese narratives, safeguard national sovereignty, and reassure the public.
