1140623-China Coast Guard Harassment in Kinmen Waters , Jun 23, 2025
China Coast Guard harasses Kinmen Waters again; Taiwan Coast Guard Administration responds with four patrol boats
Following three incursions by China Coast Guard (CCG) vessels into Kinmen waters over two days last week, Taiwan Coast Guard Administration’s Kinmen–Matsu–Penghu Branch again detected four CCG ships appearing in the restricted waters south of Kinmen at around 14:00 today (23rd). Four patrol vessels were immediately dispatched to closely monitor the situation along the restricted water boundary.
Between 14:45 and 15:00, four CCG ships — “14609,” “14515,” “14606,” and “14527” — entered Taiwan’s waters from the eastern and western sides of Kinmen, respectively. Taiwan Coast Guard Administration (TCGA) deployed four patrol vessels to respond immediately and issued stern warnings via Chinese and English radio broadcasts, demanding that the ships change course and leave Taiwan’s jurisdictional waters.
Under the close monitoring of Taiwan’s patrol boats, the China Coast Guard vessels exited the waters at 17:00.
The CGA stated that this marks the fourth incursion by CCG vessels in June, continuing the use of Gray Zone Strategy against Taiwan. To date, CCG vessels have harassed Kinmen waters 77 times. The Kinmen–Matsu–Penghu Branch will continue monitoring CCG movements and firmly safeguard national sovereignty and national security.
