Mainland China Coast Guard Formations Enter Kinmen Waters; ROC TCGA Issues Warnings and Expels Vessels
ROC Taiwan Coast Guard Administration(TCGA) confirmed that in the early hours of June 25, a formation of Mainland China Coast Guard vessels entered Taiwan Area’s Restricted Waters near Kinmen. The Kinmen-Matsu-Penghu Branch of TCGA deployed three patrol boats at approximately 05:00 to intercept and repel the vessels, completing the operation after more than two hours of monitoring and engagement.
At around 05:00, TCGA detected the gathering of four CCG vessels—hull number 14609, 14603, 14513, and 14605. The vessels then advanced in two groups, with each pair entering from different locations: east of Beiding Island and south of Fuxing Islet, respectively, forming two distinct formations as they crossed into Taiwan Area’s Restricted Waters.
In response, TCGA deployed three patrol boats to conduct parallel tracking and grouped interception operations. Throughout the incursion, TCGA carried out full surveillance, video documentation, and continuous radio warnings. The CCGe vessels navigated in the Restricted Waters from 06:00 to 08:00, after which they were driven out of the area by TCGA assets.
TCGA strongly condemned the incursion, stating that the coordinated formation was a clear act of maritime provocation. Such actions by CCG undermine public sentiment and trust between residents of Kinmen and Xiamen, and are not conducive to promoting equitable cross-strait exchanges. TCGA urges Mainland China to recognize the importance of regional peace and stability. TCGA also reaffirms its commitment to resolutely defending Taiwan’s maritime rights and sovereignty.
