Third Incursion in July: Mainland Chinese Coast Guard Vessels Enter Kinmen Waters; ROC TCGA Conducts Response and Expulsion
The Republic of China Taiwan Coast Guard Administraion (TCGA) confirmed that four Mainland China Coast Guard (CCG) vessels once again entered Taiwan’s Restricted Area near Kinmen on July 19—the third such incursion this month and the 32nd incident in 2024, involving unauthorized CCG entry into waters surrounding Taiwan’s outlying islands.
At approximately 14:00, TCGA’s Kinmen-Matsu-Penghu Branch (KMP Branch) detected four CCG vessels approaching Taiwan’s Restricted Area south of Kinmen. In response, TCGA immediately dispatched four Patrol Boats to intercept and monitor the vessels.
At 15:00, the four CCG vessels—14507, 14604, 14603, and 14608—approached from four separate directions and entered Taiwan’s Restricted Area from the south of Fuxing Islet, Jhuishan, Liaoluo, and Beiding Island, respectively. TCGA deployed Patrol Boats PP-3552, PP-3520, PP-3585, and PP-10083 for parallel one-to-one response. Throughout the encounter, TCGA conducted full-time surveillance, radio warnings, and documentation. Under close monitoring, the Chinese vessels exited the Restricted Area by 17:00. Their full operation lasted approximately two hours.
This marked the third formation-based incursion by CCG vessels into Kinmen waters in July alone, and the 32nd recorded entry into Taiwan-controlled maritime zones this year. TCGA stated that such actions by the Mainland Chinese side undermine mutual respect and contribute nothing to constructive cross-strait engagements.
TCGA reiterates its unwavering commitment to defending Taiwan’s maritime sovereignty and calls on Mainland China to recognize the importance of regional peace and stability.
