China Coast Guard Hsrassment in Kinmen Waters , November 25, 2024

Mainland Chinese Coast Guard Again Intrudes into Kinmen Waters; ROC TCGA Responds with Strong Presence and Expulsion

Following a period of rough seas caused by seasonal northeasterly winds, weather conditions improved on November 25. At approximately 14:00, the ROC Taiwan Coast Guard Administration (TCGA)’s Kinmen-Matsu-Penghu Branch (KMP Branch) detected four Mainland Chinese Coast Guard (CCG) vessels approaching Taiwan’s Restricted Area south of Kinmen. TCGA immediately dispatched four Patrol Boats to intercept and expel the intruding vessels.
At 14:50, four CCG vessels—hull numbers 14609, 14608, 14513, and 14515—entered Taiwan’s Restricted Area from four directions: south of Fuxing Islet, Jhuishan, Liaoluo, and Beiding Island. In response, TCGA deployed four Patrol Boats in one-on-one parallel response. The TCGA Patrol Boats issued continuous radio warnings in Mandarin and English, expressed Taiwan’s law enforcement position, documented the incursion, and expelled the CCG vessels. Under close monitoring by TCGA, the CCG vessels exited Taiwan’s waters by 17:00, the standoff lasted approximately 2 hours and 10 minutes.
TCGA condemned the intrusion, noting that the CCG vessels had entered a heavily trafficked maritime corridor, in which their gray zone harassment had undermined cross-strait relations. TCGA called on Mainland China to recognize the importance of regional peace and stability and to immediately halt such provocative actions.
TCGA reaffirmed its adherence to the principles of “No Provocation and N0o Backing-down,” and is committed to continuously enforce law , safeguard maritime security and order, and resolutely defend the sovereignty of the Republic of China (Taiwan).
