China Coast Guard Hsrassment in Kinmen Waters , December 30, 2024
Mainland China Coast Guard Again Harasses Kinmen Waters; ROC TCGA Responds Swiftly with On-Site Interception
At approximately 14:00 today (December 30), the ROC Taiwan Coast Guard Administration(TCGA)'s Kinmen-Matsu-Penghu Branch (KMP Branch) detected four Mainland China Coast Guard (CCG) vessels approaching Restricted Area south of Kinmen. After initially assessing the CCG’s movement as another planned incursion,TCGA immediately deployed four Patrol Boats to the outer boundary for real-time surveillance and response.
At 14:50, CCG vessels with hull numbers 14603, 14604, 14607, and 14608 entered Taiwan’s Restricted Area from four different directions near Jhuishan and Liaoluo, in southern Kinmen. TCGA patrol Boats advanced promptly to engage and intercept in a one-on-one maneuver. Through radio warnings in Mandarin and English, TCGA officers sternly warned the CCG vessels to alter course and leave Taiwan's jurisdictional waters. The operation included continuous monitoring, evidence documentation, and coordinated parallel shadowing to expel the intruders.
Under close-range tracking from TCGA Patrol Boats, the four CCG vessels exited Taiwan’s Restricted Area by 17:00. The enforcement action lasted for two hours.
TCGA noted that this marks the 50th CCGincursion into Kinmen waters since February 2024. Despite the year drawing to a close, Mainland China has persisted in deploying maritime law enforcement vessels to carry out gray zone harassment, deliberately undermining regional peace and stability. TCGA reaffirms its commitment of a firm law enforcement posture and will continue to resolutely defend national sovereignty and maritime security.
