1140825-China Coast Guard Hasrassment in Kinmen Waters , Aug 25, 2025

Continued harassment: China Coast Guard enters Kinmen Waters four times in two days
After two incursions on August 24, Taiwan Coast Guard Administration (TCGA) 12th Patrol Area again detected four China Coast Guard (CCG) vessels with Automatic Identification System (AIS) turned off in the waters around Kinmen on August 25.
At 09:30, four CCG vessels — “14608,” “14527,” “14603,” and “14515” — again entered Taiwan’s waters from southwest of Damao Mountain, sailing east in formation. TCGA Pre-positioned patrol vessels responded immediately and expelled them at 11:30.
Later at 15:00, the same four vessels again harassed Kinmen waters. Patrol boats approached and issued warnings via Chinese and English radio broadcasts demanding they leave. At 17:00, CCG vessels were expelled from Kinmen’s restricted waters under close escort.
TCGA noted that CCG vessels continue to harass Taiwan’s waters using gray-zone tactics. Since last year, CCG vessels have intruded into the waters around Kinmen and Matsu 91 times.
TCGA strongly calls on China to stop actions that undermine regional peace and stability and risk provoking public resentment.
TCGA Kinmen–Matsu–Penghu Branch will continue maintaining 24-hour high-intensity surveillance and response capability, closely monitoring CCG movements and firmly safeguarding national sovereignty and security.
