TCGA strengthens personnel deployment in waters off Kinmen and Matsu
Increased Chinese Government vessel activity before the “93 Military Parade”; Taiwan Coast Guard Administration strengthens deployment around Kinmen and Matsu
China held its September 3 military parade on this day. Since September 2, the Taiwan Coast Guard Administration (TCGA) 12th Patrol Area of the Kinmen–Matsu–Penghu Branch detected as many as 17 Chinese official vessels operating around Kinmen waters, showing a significant increase.
The branch immediately strengthened monitoring of the waters around Kinmen and Matsu and reinforced operational deployments to guard against potential gray-zone harassment activities by China.
To effectively respond to the evolving situation, the branch planned expanded enforcement operations, increased patrol resources on land and at sea, and deployed patrol vessels forward along the boundary of restricted waters.
Advanced technological equipment has also been used to enhance maritime surveillance and monitoring.
Branch Director Chen Sichuan personally arrived in Kinmen to supervise operations and ensure real-time command of the situation.
The branch noted that China’s military parade carries significant political and military symbolism, and the increased activity of Chinese government vessels around Kinmen may be intended to support propaganda objectives through maritime demonstrations of force.
TCGA stated that it has completed operational planning and remains fully prepared to counter any hybrid warfare Gray Zone harassment attempts by China during this sensitive period.
