1140917-China Coast Guard Harassment in Kinmen Waters , Sep 17, 2025
China Coast Guard continues to harass Kinmen for Three Consecutive Days, Taiwan Coast Guard Administration deploys strong response to drive them away
Following the incident on the afternoon of September 15, the same group of Chinese Coast Guard (CCG) ships, including the "14605", "14527", "14507", and "14608", once again intruded into Taiwan's restricted waters around Kinmen on the mornings and afternoons of September 16 and 17. They adopted different directions and formations. In response to these repeated intrusions over three consecutive days, Taiwan Coast Guard Administration (TCGA) 12th Patrol Area, quickly deployed patrol vessels to prevent and address the situation.
According to the TCGA, on the afternoon of September 15, the four CCG ships used an east-west formation, entering Taiwan's restricted waters from the southern areas of Shaqi Fort and Liao Luo. On the morning of September 16, at 8:50 AM, the same ships entered Taiwan's waters again in a similar pattern, exiting at 10:50 AM.
On the morning of September 17, at 8:50 AM, the same four Chinese ships gathered in the waters south of Shaqi Fort and changed their formation to a single-file line, heading east toward the Liao Luo direction. They exited Taiwan's waters at 10:50 AM. In the afternoon, at 3:00 PM, TCGA Kinmen-Matsu-Penghu Branch once again detected the Chinese Coast Guard ships and assessed that they were operating in a formation to intrude. Immediately, patrol vessels were deployed to address the situation. CCG ships regrouped southeast of Liao Luo and headed west toward Shaqi Fort. TCGA vessels approached to block and monitor them, driving them out of Taiwan's waters at 5:08 PM.
TCGA Kinmen-Matsu-Penghu Branch emphasized that the CCG not only intruded into the East Sand waters recently but also conducted a series of harassments in Kinmen waters for three consecutive days, using different times, directions, and formations. This could be an attempt to test Taiwan’s response capabilities. In light of these ongoing incursions, TCGA maintains high alert around the clock, utilizing various technological surveillance methods to monitor maritime activities, and proactively deploys resources to safeguard Taiwan's sovereignty and ensure the security of its waters.
