1141003-China Coast Guard Harassment in Dongsha Waters , Oct 3, 2025
Chinese Coast Guard continues to intrude into Dongsha Waters; Taiwan Coast Guard Administration dispatches ships for monitoring and forceful expulsion
Following the incursions of Chinese Coast Guard (CCG) ships "3103" and "3105" into Dongsha waters on September 30, Taiwan Coast Guard Administration (TCGA) Dongsha Command detected the CCG ship "3102" on October 2 at 05:50 AM, approximately northwest of Dongsha Island, outside Taiwan's waters. Based on its course, it was assessed that the vessel might enter Taiwan's jurisdictional waters, prompting TCGA to immediately dispatch the on-duty vessel, "Taipei ", to respond.
At 06:05 AM, the CCG ship "3102" entered Taiwan's restricted waters, TCGA vessel "Taipei ", located 26.5 nautical miles northwest of the island's restriction line, maintained close monitoring and forced the vessel out. At 12:02 PM on October 3, the CCG ship "3102" was detected heading north in the northeastern waters of Dongsha as it sailed out of the restricted zone.
In recent years, Chinese official vessels have frequently engaged in provocative and unlawful actions in the South China Sea and the Indo-Pacific region, undermining regional security and stability. The frequent incursions of CCG ships into Taiwan's Dongsha waters are part of this ongoing pattern. TCGA will continue to deploy ships to patrol and protect Dongsha waters, steadfastly defending Taiwan's sovereignty.
TCGA emphasized that Taiwan is an indispensable democratic partner in the Indo-Pacific region and a key player in maintaining both regional and global security. Taiwan looks forward to working with like-minded nations to jointly safeguard peace and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region.
