Today (28th), China Coast Guard stated on its official website that “the Fujian Coast Guard conducted routine law enforcement patrols near Kinmen.” As this does not reflect the facts, Taiwan Coast Guard Administration strongly refutes as follows:
At around 8:00 today (28th), Taiwan Coast Guard Administration (TCGA) 12th (Kinmen) Patrol District detected Chinese Coast Guard (CCG) vessels appearing near the waters around Kinmen, and immediately dispatched patrol boats to advance and deploy. At 8:50, four CCG vessels—“14603,” “14605,” “14515,” and “14529”—entered our waters in pairs from the east of Liao Luo and southwest of Lieyu, sailing in a column formation. Four TCGA patrol boats approached closely, conducting parallel monitoring to prevent the Chinese vessels from entering deeper into our waters. Through radio broadcasts in Chinese and English, TCGA firmly demanded that the vessels change course and leave. Under close monitoring by our patrol boats, the Chinese vessels exited the restricted waters of Kinmen at 10:50.
TCGA stated that CCG uses its vessels under the pretense of “law enforcement patrols” to cross the restricted waters of Kinmen. Based on their navigation patterns, this has become “routine harassment,” and is by no means a legitimate “law enforcement patrol.” Such actions not only affect cross-strait relations but also undermine regional peace and stability. TCGA, adhering to a firm law enforcement stance, closely monitors CCG movements, preemptively deploys patrol vessels, and immediately monitors and drives away intrusions. The Administration also releases footage of law enforcement actions to counter false information from the CCG, safeguarding national sovereignty and stabilizing public morale.
