1141222-China Coast Guard Harassment in Kinmen Waters , Dec 22, 2025

China Coast Guard harasses Kinmen again; Taiwan Coast Guard Administration monitors and drives away
The harassment by Chinese Coast Guard (CCG) flotillas continues. Following the intrusion into Kinmen waters on December 18, this afternoon (22nd), Taiwan Coast Guard Administration (TCGA) 12th (Kinmen) Patrol District again detected a flotilla of CCG vessels near Kinmen. Patrol boats were dispatched to prevent and drive them away.
At around 14:00, the 12th Patrol District detected Chinese vessels gathering outside the eastern and southwestern waters of Kinmen, and immediately dispatched patrol boats for pre-positioned deployment. At 14:50, four CCG vessels—“14606,” “14508,” “14605,” and “14609”—entered the restricted waters in pairs, approaching from southwest Lieyu and southeast Liao Luo, intending to disperse Taiwan’s monitoring capability. The four pre-positioned patrol boats immediately conducted one-to-one parallel monitoring to prevent deeper intrusion, while broadcasting in Chinese and English to firmly notify that their actions seriously undermine regional peace and maritime order, demanding immediate course change. Under full TCGA enforcement, the Chinese vessels finally turned and exited Kinmen’s restricted waters at 16:53.
TCGA emphasized that, based on the navigation patterns of the Chinese vessels, this is clearly “routine harassment,” not legitimate law enforcement, which negatively affects cross-strait relations and regional stability. TCGA remains firm in law enforcement, closely monitors CCG movements, preemptively deploys patrol vessels, immediately monitors and drives away intrusions, and releases law enforcement footage to counter false information, safeguarding national sovereignty and public morale.
