1150106-China Coast Guard Harassment in Kinmen Waters , Jan 6, 2026

Jan 6, 2026 – Mainland China Coast Guard Repeatedly Harasses Kinmen Waters Within One Week; Taiwan Coast Guard Responds Firmly to Defend National Sovereignty

Mainland China Coast Guard (CCG) Harasses Kinmen Waters
Gray zone harassment by the Mainland China Coast Guard has continued unabated. The Taiwan Coast Guard Administration (TCGA) Kinmen-Matsu-Penghu Branch detected multiple CCG vessels forming up near Kinmen waters and immediately deployed patrol boats to intercept and expel the vessels.
At approximately 14:00, four CCG vessels assembled south of Kinmen waters. At 15:10, vessels “14529,” “14609,” “14603,” and “14533” entered the Kinmen Restricted Area in two-vessel formations. TCGA patrol boats conducted one-on-one parallel monitoring and issued radio warnings demanding immediate departure. The vessels exited the Restricted Area at 17:12.
TCGA condemned these incursions as actions that undermine regional peace and maritime order and reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding national sovereignty and maritime security.
