1150115-China Coast Guard Harassment in Dongsha Waters , Jan 15, 2026

Jan 15, 2026 – Mainland China Coast Guard Maliciously Harasses Dongsha Waters

The Taiwan Coast Guard Administration (TCGA)’s Dongsha-Nangsha Branch detected at 05:14 on January 14 that Mainland China Coast Guard (CCG) vessel “3501” was operating outside the Restricted Area of Dongsha Island. Based on its course, TCGA assessed that the vessel might enter Taiwan’s Restricted Area. TCGA immediately dispatched cutters Yunlin and Kaohsiung to conduct a two-to-one monitoring and expulsion operation.
At 08:10 on the same day, CCG vessel “3501” entered the Dongsha Restricted Area. TCGA cutters Yunlin and Kaohsiung maneuvered in close proximity while issuing radio warnings in Mandarin and English demanding that the vessel alter course and depart. Under continuous interception and pressure, the vessel eventually exited Taiwan’s Restricted Area at 19:10 on January 15, approximately 28 nautical miles west of Dongsha Island.
TCGA strongly condemns such gray zone harassment and calls on Mainland China to immediately cease all intrusive actions. TCGA will continue to take all necessary measures to firmly safeguard national sovereignty and maritime security.
