1150210-China Coast Guard Harassment in Kinmen Waters , Feb 10, 2026

February 10, 2026-Mainland China Coast Guard Repeatedly Harasses Kinmen Waters Ahead of Lunar New Year; Taiwan Coast Guard Conducts Precise Surveillance and Firm Expulsion

In response to the Mainland China Coast Guard’s recent frequent formation incursions into waters near Kinmen, the Taiwan Coast Guard Administration (TCGA) has demonstrated precise surveillance and rapid response capabilities to ensure that Taiwan’s maritime order and sovereignty remain inviolable.

Following yesterday’s (February 9) formation intrusion by Mainland China Coast Guard (CCG) vessels into Kinmen waters, the 12th Patrol Area under the TCGA Kinmen-Matsu-Penghu Branch again detected four CCG vessels on the afternoon of February 10 attempting to intrude into the Kinmen Restricted Area using the same operational pattern as the previous day. TCGA emphasized that in accordance with the Lunar New Year Security Maintenance Plan, all personnel remain on high-intensity operational readiness, maintaining round-the-clock monitoring and response capabilities to counter Mainland China’s gray zone harassment.

At approximately 14:00, the 12th Patrol Area detected four CCG vessels gathering in waters south of Kinmen. TCGA immediately deployed patrol boats to key positions for forward deployment.

At 15:00, four CCG vessels — 14603, 14529, 14609, and 14530 — again entered the Kinmen Restricted Area in two-vessel formations, approaching from the east of Liaoluo and the south of Lieyu.

Four TCGA patrol boats immediately conducted one-on-one parallel monitoring, firmly blocking the vessels from further advancing into Taiwan’s waters. Under TCGA’s close monitoring and precise operational response, the four CCG vessels eventually altered course and exited the Kinmen Restricted Area at 17:00.

TCGA issued a stern statement emphasizing that Taiwan exercises full jurisdiction over Kinmen waters, and any attempt to blur Taiwan’s sovereignty through gray zone tactics will not succeed. Through concrete law-enforcement actions, TCGA has effectively countered Mainland China’s narrative of so-called “routine law enforcement patrols.”

As the Lunar New Year holiday approaches, TCGA will continue to strengthen technology-driven law enforcement and coastal-maritime response mechanisms, establishing a robust defensive posture to safeguard national sovereignty and maritime security, ensuring that the public can celebrate the holiday with peace of mind.
