1150213-China Coast Guard Harassment in Kinmen Waters , Feb 13, 2026
February 13, 2026-Mainland China Coast Guard Conducts Third Intrusion into Kinmen Waters Within One Week Ahead of Lunar New Year; Taiwan Coast Guard Remains on Duty to Safeguard Taiwan’s Maritime Territory
Despite the approaching Lunar New Year holiday, the Mainland China Coast Guard (CCG) has continued its harassment activities against Taiwan. Following two incursions on February 9 and February 10, the 12th Patrol Area under the Taiwan Coast Guard Administration (TCGA) Kinmen-Matsu-Penghu Branch again detected CCG vessels conducting a formation intrusion into the Kinmen Restricted Area on the morning of February 13. TCGA immediately deployed pre-positioned patrol boats to conduct parallel monitoring and expulsion operations.
At approximately 08:00, the 12th Patrol Area identified through its surveillance and reconnaissance system that CCG vessels were gathering south of Kinmen. TCGA immediately directed pre-deployed patrol boats to move forward and take positions along the Restricted Area boundary.
At 09:00, four CCG vessels — 14603, 14529, 14609, and 14530 — entered the Kinmen Restricted Area in two-vessel formations, approaching from the east of Liaoluo and the south of Lieyu, sailing on converging courses.
Four TCGA patrol boats immediately conducted one-on-one parallel monitoring, firmly blocking the vessels from further advancing into Taiwan’s waters. Through precise and firm operational response by TCGA patrol boats, the four CCG vessels eventually altered course and exited the Kinmen Restricted Area at 11:00.
TCGA emphasized that Taiwan exercises full jurisdiction over Kinmen waters, where maritime order remains well maintained under Taiwan’s administration. TCGA calls on Mainland China to cease such actions and jointly contribute to cross-strait peace so that people on both sides of the Strait may enjoy a peaceful Lunar New Year holiday.
In response to continuous threats posed by Mainland China, TCGA adheres to the principle of “no provocation and no retreat.” Through technology-driven law enforcement and coastal-maritime response mechanisms, TCGA maintains round-the-clock high-intensity operational readiness, closely monitoring the activities of CCG vessels and firmly safeguarding national sovereignty and national security.
