China Coast Guard and Maritime Authority Vessels Intrude into Kinmen Water; Taiwan Coast Guard Responds Firmly and Expels Vessels Individually

April 21, 2026

Harassment activities by the China Coast Guard (CCG) continue unabated. On April 21, the 12th Patrol Area under the Taiwan Coast Guard Administration (TCGA) Kinmen-Matsu-Penghu Branch again detected CCG vessels approaching Taiwan’s water.

At the same time, another vessel from the China Maritime Safety Administration, “Haixun 1630,” was also observed showing signs of entering Taiwan’s water. TCGA immediately deployed pre-positioned patrol boats to conduct parallel monitoring and expulsion operations.

At approximately 08:00, the 12th Patrol Area detected a gathering trend of CCG vessels and promptly directed patrol boats to move forward for deployment along the Restricted Water boundary.

At 09:00, four CCG vessels which are 14609, 14531, 14604, and 14530 entered the Kinmen Restricted Water in two formations, approaching from the east of Liaoluo and the south of Lieyu.

TCGA patrol boats immediately conducted one-on-one parallel monitoring, while issuing radio warnings in Mandarin and English, sternly demanding that the vessels alter course and depart.

All four CCG vessels were expelled and exited the Kinmen Restricted Water at 11:03.

During the response operation, the China Maritime Safety Administration vessel “Haixun 1630” also entered Kinmen water. TCGA patrol boats immediately issued stern radio warnings demanding that the vessel depart. Under continuous monitoring by TCGA, “Haixun 1630” exited Kinmen water at 10:32.

TCGA stated that CCG and other government vessels have repeatedly used the pretext of 'law enforcement patrols' to intrude into Taiwan’s water. Such actions constitute gray zone activities that undermine regional peace and stability while disseminating misleading information.

TCGA emphasized that it will not yield to any attempts to threaten Taiwan’s sovereignty. With the firmest stance and the highest level of professionalism, TCGA will continue to safeguard national sovereignty and ensure maritime security.
