Taiwan Coast Guard Closely Monitors Maritime Activities Around Taiwan and Firmly Upholds the Rules-Based International Order

In response to the China Coast Guard's statement issued on June 1 claiming that it had conducted a “law enforcement patrol” in water east of Taiwan, the Taiwan Coast Guard Administration (TCGA) strongly condemns such actions as an attempt to infringe upon the sovereignty of Taiwan through political manipulation and cognitive warfare. TCGA hereby clarifies as follows:

1. Regarding the operation involving China Coast Guard(CCG) vessels “2304” (Baita) and “2502” (Daishan) in water southeast of Taiwan, both vessels remained outside Taiwan’s Restricted Water throughout the activity. At 1100 A.M. on June 1, CCG vessel 2304 was located approximately 52 nautical miles east-southeast of Lanyu (Orchid Island), while CCG vessel 2502 was located approximately 51 nautical miles east-southeast of Lanyu. Both vessels are currently being monitored through parallel tracking operations conducted by the TCGA cutter Changbin.
2. TCGA strongly condemns the CCG’s deliberate use of the term “China Taiwan Island” and its unilateral claim of conducting “law enforcement patrols,” which constitute political manipulation and are entirely inconsistent with reality. TCGA reiterates that the Republic of China (Taiwan) and the People’s Republic of China are not subordinate to one another, and that the sovereignty of the Republic of China (Taiwan) shall not be infringed upon or annexed.

TCGA will continue to employ integrated surveillance, reconnaissance, and intelligence-gathering capabilities to closely monitor the activities of China vessels operating in water surrounding Taiwan. TCGA remains firmly committed to safeguarding national sovereignty and ensuring maritime security. The public may rest assured that TCGA will continue to uphold its mission of protecting Taiwan’s maritime interests and maintaining a rules-based international order.
