China Coast Guard Vessels Again Intrude into Kinmen Waters Ahead of the Dragon Boat Festival; Coast Guard Administration (CGA) Deploys Patrol Vessels to Defend Sovereignty and Force Them Away

As the Dragon Boat Festival approaches, CCG vessels have continued attempting to create the false impression of exercising jurisdiction by infringing upon Taiwan’s maritime sovereignty. Recently, CCG vessels have deliberately conducted “fake law enforcement, real intrusion” operations in waters surrounding Taiwan. At approximately 1400 hours today (June 16), the 12th Patrol Division again detected CCG vessels operating in waters surrounding Kinmen and immediately dispatched patrol vessels to respond and carry out forceful expulsion operations.

At 1500 hours, four CCG vessels—14606, 14531, 14607, and 14530—entered Taiwan’s restricted waters in two groups, approaching from waters southwest of Liaoluo and south of Lieyu. Patrol vessels of the 9th (Kinmen) Flotilla rapidly deployed to intercept the vessels, maintaining close escort while repeatedly ordering them to alter course and leave via radio broadcasts in both Chinese and English. Under continuous monitoring and escort by CGA patrol vessels, all four CCG vessels departed Kinmen’s restricted waters at 1703 hours.

The CGA stated that the CCG continues to employ gray-zone operations to infringe upon Taiwan’s maritime jurisdiction while attempting to create the false impression that it exercises administrative authority over these waters, thereby undermining regional peace and stability. The CGA will continue to maintain a firm stance by closely monitoring the activities of CCG vessels and appropriately deploying patrol vessels to conduct forceful expulsion operations, safeguarding Taiwan’s national sovereignty and maritime security.
