China Coast Guard(CCG) Vessel Illegally Intrudes into Dongsha Restricted Waters; Coast Guard Administration(CGA) Patrol Vessel Taichung Maintains Continuous Escort, Monitoring, and Forceful Expulsion
Early this morning (June 27), the Dongsha Branch Command of the CGA detected CCG vessel 3101 operating in waters surrounding Dongsha Island and immediately dispatched the patrol vessel Taichung to intercept it.

At 0903 hours, CCG vessel 3101 entered Taiwan’s restricted waters approximately 25.5 nautical miles northwest of Dongsha Island. The CGA patrol vessel Taichung continuously monitored, and closely shadowed the vessel. At one point, the distance between the two vessels was reduced to only 0.4 nautical miles. At present, Taichung remains engaged in an ongoing standoff with CCG vessel 3101.

While the CGA patrol vessel Taichung was carrying out lawful expulsion operations, CCG vessel 3101 repeatedly broadcast provocative statements claiming that “the Republic of China does not exist” and that “these waters are under China’s jurisdiction.” In response, Patrol Vessel Taichung immediately issued the following radio broadcast in both Chinese and English:
“Calling Chinese Coast Guard vessel 3101. This is the Coast Guard Administration patrol vessel Taichung of the Republic of China (Taiwan). The Republic of China (Taiwan) is a sovereign and independent nation and is not subordinate to the People’s Republic of China. This is an undeniable fact and the status quo. The people of Taiwan, under a democratic and free system, have created remarkable economic achievements and take pride in electing their own president. You should return home to fight for democracy and freedom, address your country’s economic decline, and allow the Chinese people to enjoy a prosperous and stable life. Alter your course immediately and leave Taiwan’s waters without delay. Otherwise, we will take all necessary actions in accordance with the law.”

The CGA emphasized that, as of this year (2026), the CCG has intruded into the waters surrounding Dongsha nine times using four different vessels. In recent months, like-minded countries including the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, and France have repeatedly expressed serious concern over China’s actions in undermining regional stability, jeopardizing the safety of international navigation, and heightening regional tensions.

China has once again attempted to create the false impression of exercising jurisdiction through “fake law enforcement, real intrusion” tactics. The CGA strongly condemns such actions and reiterates that the sovereignty of the Republic of China (Taiwan) is not open to challenge. The CGA will continue to employ all necessary measures to firmly safeguard national sovereignty and protect Taiwan’s maritime rights and interests.
