China Coast Guard(CCG) Vessels Again Intrude into Waters off Kinmen; Coast Guard Administration(CGA) Responds Firmly to Safeguard Sovereignty
Intrusions by CCG vessels have continued unabated. On the afternoon of July 29, the 12th Patrol District under the Kinmen-Matsu-Penghu Branch of the CGAd once again detected abnormal movements by CCG vessels in the waters surrounding Kinmen. The CGA immediately activated its response mechanism and dispatched patrol boats forward to intercept and firmly expel the vessels. These actions effectively safeguarded Taiwan’s sovereignty over the waters off Kinmen and demonstrated the CGA’s firm law-enforcement stance.
At approximately 2:00 p.m. today, the 12th Patrol District detected CCG vessels gathering at two separate locations outside the waters south of Kinmen. Patrol boats were immediately dispatched forward to the restricted waters to respond.
At 3:00 p.m., four China Coast Guard vessels, numbered 14606, 14607, 14532, and 14533, entered Kinmen’s restricted waters in two formations of two vessels each, respectively approaching from east of Liaoluo and southwest of Damaoshan. CGA patrol boats that had been deployed in advance immediately moved forward and conducted one-on-one parallel monitoring to prevent the vessels from advancing further into waters under Taiwan’s jurisdiction.
During the operation, the CGA issued stern warnings over radio in both Mandarin and English, stating that the vessels’actions had seriously disrupted order at sea and demanding that they immediately change course. Following the Coast Guard’s full-scale response and expulsion measures, the CCG formations ultimately changed course and departed Kinmen’s restricted waters at 5:03 p.m.
The CGA solemnly reiterates that the Republic of China (Taiwan) and the People’s Republic of China are not subordinate to each other. China’s attempt to employ recurrent gray-zone coercive tactics to create the false impression that it exercises jurisdiction over the waters surrounding Kinmen is fundamentally inconsistent with reality and undermines regional peace and stability.
The CGA has established high-intensity surveillance, reconnaissance, and deployment capabilities and will continue to uphold national sovereignty and ensure maritime security through its unwavering commitment to law enforcement.
