China’s Government Vessel Haixun 1630 Intrudes into Kinmen Water Under Cover of Darkness; Coast Guard Administration Immediately Deploys Patrol Vessel to Expel It

At 20:44 on July 16, the 12th (Kinmen) Patrol Division of the Coast Guard Administration detected the China’s government vessel Haixun 1630 approximately 5 nautical miles southeast of Liaoluo, proceeding on a course of 230° at 8 knots into the restricted waters of Kinmen.

The Kinmen-Matsu-Penghu Branch immediately dispatched patrol vessel PP-10083 to monitor the vessel and conducted repeated radio broadcasts ordering it to leave the area. The China vessel was firmly instructed to alter course and depart, demonstrating the Coast Guard Administration’s unwavering determination to safeguard national sovereignty and maritime security.

At 22:54, the Haixun 1630 departed Taiwan’s restricted waters at a position approximately 4.4 nautical miles southwest of Shaxi Fort and continued sailing away.

The Coast Guard Administration emphasizes that China continues to evolve its gray-zone intrusion tactics. As of today (2026), China Coast Guard vessels have intruded into Kinmen waters 24 times. In this latest incident, the vessel Haixun 1630, operated by the Maritime Safety Administration (MSA) under China’s Ministry of Transport, deliberately entered Taiwan’s waters under the cover of darkness.

The Coast Guard Administration strongly condemns this action and calls upon China to immediately cease using government vessels to intrude into Taiwan’s waters with “cross-boundary navigation.” Such actions not only undermine regional peace and stability but also endanger the safety of maritime navigation and operations.

The Coast Guard Administration will continue to take all necessary measures to firmly safeguard Taiwan’s sovereignty and ensure the security of its maritime domain.
