It was repoted that There is a trend that more and more Chinese fishing boats in the Dongsha atoll national park by Dongsha Command.
A powerful raid was conducted,with 1 3000tons Kaohsiung vessel and 3 100tons Patrol boats,by director Mr.Hu,from Kaohsiung Harbor.
The powerful raid was cooperated with Dongsha Command,Dongsha National park headquarter and Dongsha maritime patrol subsection.
Mandatory inspection was conducted onto the 「琼琼海漁05055」and corals 15 tons,shells 400 tons, Protected Green Turtle 3 ( 1 has been dismembered ) was founded.Furthermore, Polystyrene ,which weighted about 40 kilograms, was founded and was suspected using for poisoning fish. Damage to the marine ecosystem severely, real distressing , as reported to the Kaohsiung District Prosecutors Office , we brought back the boat and people for investigation.

Academia Sinica Dr. Chen Zhaolun are Dongsha Atoll ecological surveys , preliminary analyzed the seized poaching coral species up to 21 species.The poaching type of chinese fishing vessels is massive harvest for some particular shape or color , showed a deliberate intention of harvesting , these two coral species belongs to endangered species , such poaching behavior has seriously damaged the east sea area of coral reef ecosystems .

This powerful raid seized 「琼琼海漁05055」 fishing boat 1, expelled「琼琼海漁09775」and other 11chinese fishing boats, threw all kinds of fish about 7 tons. Besides, there were 2 membership boats up to 4 persons who trespassed prohibited waters, has been retained by Dongsha Command for further investigation..
Unfortunately, in the way of escorting "Joan" ship returned to Kaohsiung, early in the morning on the 24th 0430 a.m, the「琼」engine room was tooken on water and right engine lost power failure, then the towing implementation of Kaohsiung vessel was conducted,but considered sea condition was bad (wind up to 7-9) ,there was a risk in towing「琼」 boat for safety concerns, made「琼」trailer back East Buchanan Atoll port and anckor, conducting the repairment.
The 25th in the morning, Kaohsiung ship chief engineer, bosun and three senior engineer officer were assigned to 「琼」 to help rule out the ship, but「琼」 ship cabin has serious water flood, the water has flooded to about engine, can not be excluded, the captain announced to abandon the ship, as reported to the prosecutor indicated 41 fishermen were took back for the investigation as well as the mining various types of coral and shellfish harvesting and other evidence of the sample back, polystyrene, green turtle and the dismemberment of the harvesting tools have also be brought back for investigation.
Maritime Patrol general deractorate will continue depending on the actual situation, to Dongsha Atoll of expanding the powerful raid and strongthen law enforcement.
