To arouse the concerns of the oceans, the United Nations set June 8 as " World Ocean Day" each year since 2009 ,as with international standards, in response to the concept of caring for the ocean . Hence, Coast Guard Administration conduct relative activities since 2009.This year, the 2016 World oceans day,will be held at 10:00 to 16:00 pm on June 4th , in Taichung Harbor passenger service center and in front of Pier 19 ,as the same time, latest 1,000-ton vessels Taoyuan and Miaoli double ceremony will also be held.
This event was hosted by the minister of CGA Mr.Lee,and vice president Mr.Cai,Mr.yuan,Taichung city mayor Mr.Lin,Miaoli county mayor Mr.Hsu,Taoyuan vice county mayor Mr.Wang and other guests were invited.Mr.Lee said that the ocean is the cradle of life , the mother of earth, regulating climat , nourishing all things. In recent years, serious pollution issues ,as well as over-exploitation , waste disposal , overfishing and other issues , are facing a severe test .Hope to reverse the fate of the oceans through the Government and local forces .
Mr.Lee also said that Coast Guard 's tasks include the implementation of fisheries patrol , rescue at sea , prevent smuggling,and seize illegal fishery and prevent from marine pollution , the goals are to defend national sovereignty in fishing rights , protection of sea safety , maintaining precious marine resources. The main topic of this event is " to sail from anchorage and protect our oceans and seas " , a symbol of the vision national development toward marine , Coast guard will " expand the depth and breadth of ocean affairs in the future ", " to enhance the effectiveness of marine services and information ." , " strengthen the law enforcement equipment and energy ", " assist the development and application of marine scientific research ", and " to promote the concept of marine conservation and policy ," construct ecological , security, prosperity , and sustainable ocean from the above five levels.
Mayor Mr.Lin expressed that in order to promote the capacity of dealing with maritime cases and enhance disaster response ,we care for the maintenance of the marine environment and the safety of passenger a lot.we hosted a military exercise,which combine the marine pollution incident, maitainance of security and prevention terrorists attack,not only binding jurisdiction of the relevant units of the human and material resources , but also allows each strain units and personnel familiar with the whole system of defense communications conduit strain and operating procedures.At last,I thank CGA , the present government and all colleagues participating units.
The World Ocean Day was first held in Taichung , composed of Coast Guard Administration , the Taichung City Government, Matritime port bureau and the Port Authority central Taichung Port Services Branch , a total of 56 government agencies and organizations , from 10 am after the opening point , in addition to the latest 1,000-ton Coast Guard Miaoli ship and Taoyuan ship ceremony but also comebined with ISPS, civil and environmental protection, fire rescue units waters safe military exercise , distinguishing between culture, ocean leisure, marine science and technology and marine industries. there are activities throughout the Coast Guard ships, visit the Black Hawk helicopters , rescue equipment show , marine forums , and Coast Guard SWAT team , total Taiwan Taoist temple drums team , Popular Orchestra and Taichung Girls music honor guard and other schools , local communities were invited and the lottery show , on-site integration of dynamic exercises, static display , carnivals , bustling exhibit ocean pluralistic outlook and rich in content, activities was concluded at 04 p.m.The public overwhelming response , more than 6,000 people participated , showed that effectively promoted the concept of marine conservation .
