The new 1000tons cutters Taitung(CG-133) and Pingtung(CG-135) have came to Coast Guard, and the Commission Ceremony was held by President Tsai at 10:50am on the Shinping harbor of Navy in Kaohsiung.

President Tsai examined the corps on the land first , then announced the forming of the cutter, gave the flags of the two cutter by herself, examined the navigation instruments of Pingtung cutter and the powerful water cannons(the maximum range up to 120M)and 40mm cannons. Not only examine the outcome of the policy of enhancing the assets for Coast Guard but also highlight the determination of protect our sovereignty and the fishery right.

Coast Guard said the two cutters(Taitung and Pingtung cutter)was designed and built by Taiwan citizen, implemented the policy of “ ship of the state should be made by Taiwan”. The body of the cutter was mad by steel, length 87.6M, width 12.8M, with two engines, propeller of variable pitch, propeller in the bow, Stabilizing fins which stabilizing the voyage. The speed of Sail could up to 24 NMs and the endurance could up to 6,000 NMs (about 1,112km)

Coast Guard emphasized that the determination the protecting fishery resources would never be slacked ,and the behaviors of it would never be discount. These two cutter would be distributed to the Southern/Eastern Sector Flotilla, which to broden the energy of patrol in the south/east china seas or Okinotorishima related water. In order to maintain the sovereignty of oceans, fishery resources and the right of our fishermen.
