New Coast Guard Training Base Opens, Dedicated to Nurture Coast Guard Recruits

The Education, Training & Testing Center(ETTC) of Coast Guard Administration, Ocean Affairs Council, held a dedication ceremony on September 20th to celebrate the grand opening of its new training base. The ceremony was hosted by Chou Mei-Wu, Director General of the Coast Guard Administration.

To integrate the training resources of Haihu and Zhishan training bases, the ETTC collaborated with Taoyuan City Government to construct the leading Coast Guard training base in Luzhu District, Taoyuan City. With a total of 700 million NTD budget, the training base covers 6.4 hectares of area and 19,938 square meters of building space, which serves administrative, educational, and training purposes. In addition to existing facility renovations including indoor swimming pool and outdoor multi-functional shooting range, new facilities including indoor shooting range, shooting simulator, gymnasium, lecture hall, dormitories and administrative building were constructed to meet the comprehensive training needs of Coast Guard.

Coast Guard missions have diversified due to the escalating international situations. In order to keep up with the ever-changing world and continue to “training for duties,” ETTC collaborates with Taoyuan City Government to construct the leading Coast Guard training base. With new facilities including indoor shooting range, shooting simulator, gymnasium and lecture hall, the ETTC new training base provides advanced learning environment and rigorous training for recruits, laying the vital cornerstone for the increasing comprehensive Coast Guard missions.
