Duties
Northern Branch is responsible for smuggling prevention, harbor security inspection, and prevention of illegal exit and entry. The coverage coastal areas are shown as follows:?The coast of Taiwan Island, including Pengjia Islet, Keeling Islet, and Guishan Island (from Heping River of Yilan to Cingtian Spring of Hsinchu). During the wartime period, Northern Branch will be joining the system of military battle of Minister of National Defense under the command of Executive Yuan.
Mission
- Inspect inbound and outbound ships/boats in restricted area.
- Enforce anti-smuggling activities and prevent any illegal entries or departures at coasts and non-commercial ports.
- Assist to prevent smuggling activities and illegal debouchments at commercial ports.
- Monitor if any ship or any other transportation is illegally leaving or entering the coasts.
- Coastal patrol, prevent and beware of crimes around the coasts.
- Execute security examination at ports and harbors.
- Investigate and negotiate upon foreign affairs around the coastline.
- Maintain the instruments and devices of communication, electronic, radar, photoelectric and information system.
- Collect information and intelligence of smuggling activity, illegal immigration, and anti-infiltration.
- Any other mission that the coastline guards are supposed to execute or assist according to the rule.
